Please notify the office within five (5) days of your move! We charge a nominal fee to file a Change of Address on your behalf, or you may do this on your own. Clients are encouraged to change their address on their own to avoid additional attorneys fees. Please visit https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange to change address. US CIS requires non-citizens with pending applications to notify the agency of a change of address within ten (10) days of moving. A willful failure to give US CIS written notice of a change of address is a misdemeanor crime. If convicted, the non-citizen (or his/her parent/legal guardian) may receive a $200.00 fine and/or 30 days imprisonment. The non-citizen may also be subject to removal from the United States. Compliance with these requirements are a condition of the non-citizen’s stay in the United States. Failure to comply could jeopardize the non-citizen’s ability to obtain future visa(s) or other immigration benefits.
Clients in Removal Proceedings: If you are in Immigration Court removal proceedings, you must carefully read your Notice to Appear’s “Notice to Respondent.” This covers non-negotiable terms and conditions in proceedings. This includes a duty to notify the Immigration Court when you move.
