Asylum applicants may be subjected to initial and annual filing fees. DHS issued a Rule on May 29, 2026, stating that asylum applicants must pay their asylum fees. It is your responsibility to pay the annual filing fee on a timely basis. It is not our office’s responsibility to remind you of this annual payment.
If your case is before US CIS, then the initial application fee is submitted with the initial case filing. The only link that is available to pay is for the annual asylum fee for cases filed on or after October 1, 2024 is here: https://my.uscis.gov/accounts/annual-asylum-fee/questionnaire. If your application is pending before the Immigration Court, you may pay your initial asylum fee and annual asylum fee using the official immigration court fee payment portal, link here: https://epay.eoir.justice.gov/index.
Be sure to pay the annual asylum fee every year before the anniversary date of your asylum application. The annual asylum fee is not an optional payment. Failure to pay the fees could result in harm to your case, including dismissal of the application and issues with work authorizations.
